The City of Peterborough is looking to hire a Supervisor, Policy Planning.
Provide leadership, co-ordinate and oversee all major planning policy updates and initiatives, including Official Plan Updates, growth management and land needs assessments, comprehensive Zoning By-law updates, Secondary Plans and Master Plan studies, Intensification studies, and the processing of necessary Official Plan and Zoning By-law amendments. Complete research, prepare reports and make recommendations on policy initiatives and long-range strategic planning matters for the City.
Knowledge and experience normally associated with a University Degree in Planning, Environmental Studies, or related discipline; designation as a Registered Professional Planner and a minimum of five years demonstrated leadership and planning experience at a senior level. Must have working knowledge of municipal planning process and planning documents such as the Planning Act, The Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe, Provincial Policy Statement, the Official Plan and Zoning By-law; knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database software, including AMANDA; the ability to comprehend all forms of interpersonal relationships in a public forum; and to interact between government and the private sector. Must have excellent communication (verbal and written), negotiation and project management skills, well-developed public relation skills and proven leadership ability. Must be a team player with a commitment to quality customer service.
