Summary of Role:
The Intermediate/Senior Interior Designer is responsible for client service and design deliverables relating to Interior Design projects. Formally reporting to the Principal Designer, the Intermediate/Senior Interior Designer will work cohesively with all team members to ensure projects are executed efficiently and deliverables are of the highest quality. The Intermediate/Senior Interior Designer mandate is to provide and execute complete interior design services, ensure profitable and successful completion of interior design projects, develop and maintain client relationships, and nurture relationships with peers, external sub-contractors, and vendors.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Included, but not limited to;
o Cultivate and foster long term continuous business relationships with clients, consultants,
and vendors;
o The promotion and sale of all Lakeshore consulting services;
o Being a team leader through all phases of the design process;
o Determine project scope and goals, through client interviews + documents;
o Use every communication channel available to identify client needs/expectations and
to relay them to other project consultants – internal and external;
o Create project fee estimates and contracts;
o Perform site visits, and full documentations (photographs, measuring, floor plans;
o Establish project schedules, and determine process and division of work with team
members;
o Establish pre-design concept inspirations and palette for projects, and provide direction
to the team for development;
o Receive direction from Principal designer, collaborate with and direct fellow team
designers;
o Manage overall vision and style direction, through design development, product
specifications, fabrication and installation;
o Execute project designs within budget to maximum client satisfaction and optimal
company margins;
o Produce floor plans, RCPs, elevations, and details using CAD and BIM softwares;
o Produce 3D computer renderings using Sketchup, Chief Architect, or stylized hand-drawn
sketches;
o Select plumbing fixtures, appliances, hardware, and light fixtures;
o Select interior and exterior colours and materials;
o Select furniture, rugs, window coverings, art, and décor;
o Input selections into presentation and specification documents;
o Adapt to changes in the work environment; modify approach of method to best fit the
situations; manage frequent change, delays, or unexpected events in a positive and
professional manner;
o Complete all assigned project deliverables for each design contract within hours
allocated to complete each task, and prior to project deadline;
o Present ideas and review progress with design team via scheduled meetings;
o Attend meetings and communicate with clients, contractors, sub-trades, and suppliers;
o Conduct site meetings to oversee the execution of design details, and troubleshoot
unforeseen issues;
o Provide ongoing design administration during construction and project execution;
o Liaise with procurement manager regarding details for quotations, orders, and tracking;
o Plan and oversee product shipments, storage and deliveries or complete move-ins,
stagings, and installations;
All team members at Lakeshore Designs assist with general office duties including, but not limited to:
o Greeting office guests
o Answering phone calls
o Working with other staff to maintain office cleanliness, supplies, and the sample
library
o Attending meetings with suppliers and reps
Qualifications:
o Member in good standing with the Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario
(ARIDO);
o Successful completion of the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ);
o Graduate of a CIDA accredited College or University diploma or degree program in the
field of Interior Design;
o Trained in Hunter Douglas window coverings an asset;
o Proficient in current software versions of CAD and BIM – AutoCAD and Chief Architect
preferred - and Microsoft Office Suite;
o Working knowledge of building materials, methods and tools involved in the construction
of interior fit-outs and renovations;
o Knowledge of construction methods, contracts, activities, schedules and milestones, and
administrative processes;
o Successfully perform and execute complete interior design services from exploration,
schematic design, design development, working drawings, specifications for FFE and
construction, permits, and tender information packages
o Knowledge of federal, provincial, and municipal building laws, building and safety
codes, health and environmental standards and regulations;
o Knowledge of construction and project management activities
o Knowledge of individual budgets and timelines
o Excellent interpersonal, communication, facilitation and presentation skills
o Proficient in organization and time management skills
o Demonstrate knowledge of the entire organization, its products and services;
